Sharla McBride has been "Waking Up America" since joining Newsmax in October of 2021.

Sharla an 18-year broadcast news veteran, worked as a main evening news anchor and sports anchor at WUSA-TV, the CBS affiliate in Washigton D.C.

She also anchored news and sports at WNEP-TV, the ABC affiliate in Scranton-Wilkes-Barre, Penn., and was a sports anchor for NBC Sports Philadelphia.

Born and raised in Austin, Texas McBride studied international affairs and foreign policy, with a concentration in broadcast journalism, at the University of Georgia , Sharla began her broadcast journalism career in her home state, as a reporter at KTXS-TV.
